Board Adopts 2023 Club Rules

The Board has approved changes to the club rules and regulations for the 2023 season. Please review and familiarize yourself and family members with these rules. A copy can be viewed and downloaded by clicking HERE.

Most of the changes are technical/typographical, but in response to observations and the 2022 year-end survey, we have added new rules regarding 1.) throwing of balls and other objects in and around the pool and, 2.) clarification of how children approved to be added to a family unit may participate in Club programs and league-sponsored activities:

Rule Change 1.  Balls or other objects thrown in or around the pool:

    1. must be specifically designed for pool use. They should be soft and should not absorb so much water that they become overly heavy. No hard balls. No tennis balls.
    2. should be allowed only when the pool is not overly crowded. Managers may prohibit balls in the pool at any time if they feel the balls pose a safety risk to the patrons.
    3. must be thrown in a controlled manner. No “hail Mary throws” where a group of people fight over the reception. No whipping balls the entire length of the pool.

Balls not designed for in-pool use are permitted to be used inside of the fenced-in grassy area.

Rule Change 2.  The rules at Section IV c. 7. include a new provision to clarify how children who have been approved for addition to a member’s household may participate in Club programs and league-sponsored activities, such as NVSL Swim and Dive competitions and NVTL junior tennis leagues. The new rule reads as follows:

Children in the regular care of a member (e.g., grandchildren) who have been approved to be added to a member’s household under Article III, Section 7 of the By-Laws are exempt from the guest fee and may partake in all Club programs at the member rate. Participants in league-sponsored activities (i.e., Swim, Dive, Tennis) must meet the eligibility requirements of the respective league.

Each league has separate requirements as to who qualifies as a “member” of a club eligible to participate in league-sanctioned events.  For example, members who are caring for grandchildren while their parents are working may qualify for use of Club facilities and even join the Swim Team but may not necessarily be eligible to compete in NVSL-organized meets.
